Imphal, March 20 2013:
A huge cache of explosive materials, hidden at a place in Namching Keithelmanbi area, were recovered by security forces upon the disclosure made by a KYKL activist who was arrested from his residence at Singjamei Sougrakpam Leikai early this morning around 4.30 .
According to police source, a combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and troops of 18 Sikh Regiment arrested a KYKL man, identified as Sougrak-pam Surjit alias Ibungo (39) s/o (L) Yaima from his residence this morning.
Based on the disclosure of the arrested man, two IEDs, 10 hand grenades, 10 detonators, one remote control device and a battery set were recovered from Namching Keithelmanbi area today around 6.30 am, the police said.
Meanwhile, another KYKL activist was arrested by a team of Imphal West district police commandos from near Keishamthong Bridge
on March 18 .
Identifying the arrested activist as Heisnam Mohari alias Loyalakpa (40) s/o H Kokngang Singh of Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai, a statement issued by the SP of Imphal West said the arrested activist was assigned to serve demand letters to various contractors, businessmen besides being assigned to transport arms and ammunition from place to place.
A mobile handset was seized from his possession.
