Imphal, June 16 2020:
The Transporters' and Drivers' Council (TDC) has assured all possible assistance in the road reconstruction/renovation works inside the ISBT (Inter State Bus Terminal) complex at Khuman Lampak.
Speaking to media persons at its office, TDC president H Ranjit said that the road inside the complex was damaged due to the increase in traffic following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trucks and other heavy vehicles which came into the State were made to pass through the ISBT for screening and other COVID-19 preventive measures in line with State's directives, he said.
Stating that the Public Works Department (PWD) is undertaking the road construction work through a contractor, he said members of the TDC are observing and assisting the work force from tomorrow.
TDC will also be providing machinery and assisting in every possible way, he added.
On the other hand, he mentioned that the TDC members and drivers who were engaged in ferrying returnees from Jiribam to all districts of the State are currently undergoing quarantine.
He lauded the drivers and all involved for their services in the evacuation missions.
