Imphal, March 16 2015:
The Manipur Legislative Assembly has unequivocally condemned the bomb blast at Khwairamband temporary market shed on March 11 which killed three persons and injured more than 20 .
On account of stringent security measures taken up by the Government, UG cadres are no longer able to walk around in 'uniforms and with arms.
However, the incidents of bomb blasts and crime against women have been rising rapidly since the past couple of years, stated Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam while deliberating on the March 11 bomb blast as a short duration motion in the State Assembly today.
While discussing the motion N Biren, Dr Ng Bijoy, RK Anand, K Shyam, L Ibomcha and Th Shyamkumar urged the Government to investigate and find out whether the violent activities which seem to be targeting non-local people were aimed at sending back non-local people through intimidation or whether the recent series of bomb blasts were part of a conspiracy to re-impose AFSPA in the seven Assembly segments of greater Imphal or whether all these subversive activities were aimed at maligning the incumbent Government.
In response, Gaikhangam asserted that public cooperation and collective efforts are crucial in order to check all these subversive activities.
Dedicated police teams have been deployed at strategic points of Imphal city and frisking/checking exercise has also been enhanced.
People's condemnation against bomb blasts and other violent activities deserves appreciation.
Some people involved in certain cases of bomb blasts have been apprehended and due process of investigation is underway.
Certain information and clues about the March 11 bomb blast have been gathered but the same could not be disclosed at the moment due to security reasons, claimed Gaikhangam.
Later, the House conveyed solidarity to families of the deceased as well as injured victims.
