ZRO clarifies on Langol incident

Lamka, October 08 2012: The underground Zomi Re-unification Organisation (ZRO) has today come out on the incident at P Songlianlal's residence at Langol Games Village on October 7 .

In a statement, the outfit's secretary of Ministry of Information and Public Relations, Kenneth said that the ZRA cadres have no intention to kill, hurt or maim Songlianlal or any of his family members, which is vindicated by the sequences of events.

While they were seated in the common room, his (Songlianlal's) son along with his private army, numbering around eight suddenly attacked the ZRA cadres causing grievous injury to one of them, it stated.

The unprovoked move compelled the cadres to act in defence which also caused minor injury to the mother-son duo," the ZRO statement said while adding that the attack on its cadres in peace mission is unfortunate and highly condemnable.

The statement also mentioned that P Songlianlal was implicated in the recent coup attempt of the organisation.

Even if the outfit informed him to explain his position and settle case, if found guilty, as per the Zomi customary practices, he failed to pay heeds to the repeated efforts of Zomi civil societies as well as family council.

On the contrary, he continued his divisive activities, mobilised private army and approached other armed group to counter ZRO/ZRA, the statement alleged.

The statement also accused Songlianlal of instigating defection, sheltering defectors and facilitating meeting with other armed groups.

He is also instrumental in distributing anti-party pamphlets and his son, Ngamlamkhenmung in Delhi is also spreading the same venomous news using fake email id [email protected], alleged the statement.

"His desperation may be fuelled by his loss or defeat in the election for which the organisation is not responsible; neither encouraging him nor forcing him to contest or stop him from contesting the election," the statement said while adding that it is universal truth that person with dubious records hardly received public support at the time of election.

The ZRO expressed its belief in solving any pending issue peacefully while asserting that it would be unacceptable if any person chose the otherwise.
