With bilateral ties witnessing an upswing, Myanmar has hinted at initiating a business tie up with India on the coal mines and Onshore Oil blocks located at Kabaw valley with India.
Simultaneously the items in the Indo-Myanmar trade agreement has been increased by another 18 items to the existing 22 .
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express an official source said that the new development came about when the first Secretary in the Myanmar Embassy in New Delhi Kyaw Nyunt Lwin extended his new year greetings along with some fresh offers to the secretary of the North East Federation of International Trade.
In his greetings the first secretary in Myanmar embassy drew the attention of the Federation to the possibility of initiating a new trade arrangement with the coal mines and Onshore Oil blocks at Kabaw valley, said the source further.
On the other hand, the Director General of Foreign Trade has issued a notification that the trade items under the Indo-Myanmar Border Trade has been increased by 18 fresh items to the existing 22 items.
The freshly added trade items include Bicycle parts, life saving drugs, fertilisers, insecticides, cotton fabrics, stainless steel, utensils, menthol, agarbatti, spices, cosmetics, leather footwear, paints and varnishes, sugar and salt, mosquito coil, bulb, bread, X-Ray paper and photo paper and imitated jewelleries.
Meanwhile Chief Minister O Ibobi today chaired a meeting with Government officials in connection with the visit of DONER Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar scheduled for February 21 and 22, said a well placed source.
During his visit, Aiyar will visit the construction work for the Land Customs office at Moreh as well as lay the foundation stone for the inter-State bus terminus at Khuman Lampak.
