Inhabitants of Wangjing Maning Leikai has decried the State Government's move to evict 29 households from the locality to make way for construction of a sports complex there.
In this regard, the local people staged a protest sitting raising strong objection to evict any household of the locality.
The protesters asked the Government to construct sports complex on vacant land without affecting houses.
They also put up placards which read as "Don't reduce to beggars", "Develop sports complex in separate areas" etc.
According to a notification issued by the Revenue Department, it was declared necessary to evict houses of 23 people having valid pattas in Wangjing Maning Leikai.
The local people conveyed strong objection against the Government's move to evict 29 households having a total of 163 people under the Land Acquisition Act 1894.The houses belong to 23 patta holders.
Earlier, the State Government has acquired Leishang Hiden, Canchipur after evicting the people occupying the area in order to expand NH 39 and develop Leishang Hiden as a moat.
