The two-day deliberation session for elected women representatives of Panchayati Raj institution organized by Manipur Unit of Panchayat Manila Avam Yuva Shakti Abhiyan concluded at Panchayat Bhavan, Porompat today.
Extensive presentation on the issues/subject concerning women.by resource persons and tabling of charter of demands by the convener of Panchayat Mahila Avam Yuva Shakti Abhiyan AK Mirabai marked the concluding day's session.
The charter of demands highlighted problems endured by the women members of the society, proposal for special allotment of fund in the budget meant for Panchayati Raj Institutions, empowerment of women representatives so as to ensure social justice, initiation for appropriate measures for the women representatives to instill a sense of being the facilitator, special incentives to women members who excel in their respective field, institution and empowerment of women committees and proportionate representation of women members in policy programmes of the State, As resource persons, Director of State's Social Welfare'' Department A Nabachandra Singh spoke on 'important schemes of Social Welfare Department'; Joint' Director of Manipur State AIDS Control Society S Abhiram on 'Role of elected women of PRI in prevention of HIV/AIDS'; and Senior Advocate of Guwahati High Court, Ch Narendra on 'Women and Law'.
