Imphal, February 23 2016:
All Manipur Students Guardians' Organisation (AMSGO) has urged Naga Students' Federation (NSF) to revoke its decision to ban entry of vehicles owned by Meitei/Manipuri to Naga inhabited areas considering the ongoing Class XII examination and upcoming Class X examination.
It may be mentioned that NSF had warned the State Government that it would ban the movement of all the Meitei/Manipuri owned vehicles in all the Naga inhabited areas with effect from February 24 if the Government fails to comply with the demands mentioned in the memorandum submitted on February 16 on or before February 23 .
Speaking at their Singjamei office, AMSGO secretary (organisation) S Sumati urged NSF not to give a communal tinge to the February 14 Mantripukhri incident.
Sumati said that it would be more sensible on the part on the students' body if they prohibit entry of Manipur police commandos instead of heaping blame on the whole Meitei/Manipuri community.
Saying that Class XII and Class X examinations are important examinations in a student's life, Sumati urged NSF to revoke the decision as the ban would give inconvenience to the students appearing in these exams.
On the other hand, Sumati said that smashing of 18 CCTV cameras installed at Biramangol College, Sawombung, is very unfortunate.
She said that CCTVs are installed at two exam centres each of all the nine districts of the State by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) to check use of unfair means in Class XII examination.
Biramangol College incident was a fallout of COHSEM's myopic effort.
Alleging that the State Government has not given thrust to development of education in the past 15 years, Sumati said that sudden strictures would always see negative consequences.
She said that the Government neither paid proper attention to the education sector nor studied the impact given by bandhs and blockades to students and their education.
People would laud installation of CCTVs only when the new step is enforced in all the exam centres of hill and valley districts, she observed.
