Imphal, February 23 2013 :
Reiterating the demand for the transfer of EE, DRDA of Chandel, the KSO Chandel and NSUC have lined up series of agitation including 48 hours Chandel district bandh beginning 5am of March 1 if the Government fails to effect the transfer of the EE by February 27 .
If the Government is still adamant to fulfil the demand by then, the student bodies also announced to impose indefinite economic blockade along NH-2 from midnight of March 3 .
Addressing reporters today at Molnoi Village in Chandel district, KSO Chandel President, Thangjalet Mate and NSUC President Sunny Shankhil pointed out that the incumbent EE, DRDA of Chandel Saratchandra has been occupying the post for five years though he was initially on a three-year deputation.
The student leaders accused the EE of running office work from his resident in Imphal and also fostering the evil practice of groupism, nepotism, and favouritism among the technical staff and beneficiaries.
The EE has also been accused of cutting 10-15% of centrally sponsored schemes under BRGF, BADP and MOBC.
Lamenting that the demand made by four apex civil organisations of the districtKCA, NCA, NSUC and KSO for the transfer of the DRDA Officer has been turned into a deaf ear, the students' leaders slammed the State Government for its alleged 'step motherly treatment' to the district.
Pointing out that a memorandum was submitted to the CM on February 22 demanding the transfer of the EE, the Chandel based Kuki and Naga students have lined up a series of agitation if the Government fails to fulfil the demand by February 27 .
Amongst others, the courses of agitation included 48 hours Chandel district bandh from 5am of March 1 and imposition of indefinite economic blockade along NH-2 from midnight of March 3 .
The student bodies also warned of chalking out appropriate actions from time to tome in case the Govt fails to fulfil the demand still.
Movement relating to Board exams, fixed scheduled programmes, religious events and medical services would be exempted from the purview of the bandh, the student leaders said.
