CEO cracks rescue ops whip

Taking serious note of the abduction of two supporters of INC candidate in Karong AC DD Thaisii by some unidentified armed persons on January 16, Chief Electoral Officer PC Lawmkunga has directed district police and paramilitary forces including Assam Rifles to launch intensive rescue operations.
Saying that he has received no submissions from the district police for additional security forces, above the strength detailed for election duty, Lawmkunga conceded that the whereabouts of the two abducted political workers could not be ascertained till date.
He further informed that stringent measures have been taken up to prevent double voting as well as bogus voting in the coming Assembly elections.
He said that a software has been developed to prevent each voter from voting more than once.
