Nandakumar to administer oath to MLA elects as Protem Speaker

Senior Congressman Laishram Nandakumar has been sworn in as Protem Speaker of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly today.
The Protem Speaker would administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected MLAs at 11 am tomorrow.
Significantly, the 9th Legislative Assembly was dissolved by a Cabinet decision yesterday.
Consequent upon dissolution of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister O Ibobi and his Council of Ministers submitted their resignations.
While accepting the resignation, Governor Gurbachan Jagat asked O Ibobi to remain as care-taker Chief Minister until the next Government is formed.
At a function held at Raj Bhawan this afternoon, Governor Gurbachan Jagat delivered oath of office and secrecy to Laishram Nandakumar as Protem Speaker.
The Protem Speaker would again deliver oath of office and secrecy to all the newly elected MLAs in the recently inaugurated Assembly Secretariat building tomorrow morning.
According to information, the first session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly may be held by March 20 .
The Speaker and the Deputy Speaker may be elected during the first session which would be opened by the Governor with
his customary speech.
