Scribes' welfare schemes assured

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has given his assurance for implementation of various journalists' welfare schemes.
The CM made the assurance during a meeting with the Standing Committee members of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) led by its president Wangkhemcha Shamjai today at the CM's chamber.
The AMWJU team during the meeting that was also attended by former Minister N Biren, also a former AMWJU president, submitted a memorandum that comprised 15 Charters of Demand.
Enunciating that the demands raised by the AMWJU team are genuine, the Chief Minister immediately issued instruction to concerned officials to take up prompt actions.
The CM swiftly instructed the officials concerned through phone to take necessary prompt action for preventing instant inundation at Manipur Press Club at the slightest rainfall on being informed by the AMWJU team.
To increase budgetary support for maintenance of Manipur Press Club, free medical aid to journalists, setting up of Press Academy, to provide appropriate ex-gratia to journalists during exigencies, formulation of family benefit scheme, journalist housing colony, setting up of press room inside Assembly Secretariat, completion of Manipur Press Club building, building a memorial complex at Mt Herriet (Andaman & Nicobar Island), time to time amendment of pension scheme, increasing the number of DIPR press I-card, conducting external press tour, issuing press accredited card, arranging press room at Imphal Airport, allotting land for setting up AMWJU branch offices at Moreh, Jiribam, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Mao are other the demands raised by AMWJU.
It was also decided that another round of meeting would be held with the CM along with top officials of department concerned to finalise the date of completion of several projects on Oct 23, a statement issued by AMWJU said.
the AMWJU team also proposed conduct of rural reporting programme to interior areas on monthly basis.
