COVID-19: Deputy Speaker, MLA Khangabok AC and more distribute relief supplies

Imphal, April 10 2020: A COVID-19 Relief Committee of Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency which was formed under the aegis of Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Kongkham Robindro continued to provide relief supplies to select households of the Constituency.

Addressing the gathering while distributing food items at Mayang Imphal Keithel, the Deputy Speaker stated that the committee has so far reached out to about 2,500 households since the imposition of lockdown in the State.

Saying that he will work his best to provide essential items to the people of Mayang Imphal as long as the preventive measure is effective, K Robindro appealed all to follow the guidelines of World Health Organisation to contain the disease caused by novel coronavirus.

He also thanked all group (s) and individual (s) who have donated to the relief committee.

Councillor of Mayang Imphal Municipal Council,Saikhom Nandita also distributed relief materials to about 500 households of Ward no 2 of the Council.

Thoubal: In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, Khangabok A/C MLA Okram Surjakumar in association with various clubs of the Constituency, distributed relief items to people of Khangabok today.

O Surjakumar personally oversaw to the distribution which covered Social Welfare Club Wangbal, Wangbal Part-I Laibung, Wangbal Lamboithong Laibung, Uyal Laibung, Wangbal Part-II Thongjao and Sangaiyumpham Cherapur Mathak Leikai.

Saying that this deadly disease does not discriminate on the basis of religion, class or party and can infect anyone, he urged people to continue observing all precautionary measures laid down by the State Government.

Former MLA O Landhoni and spouse of O Surjakumar, Dr Micky Hijam Okram were also present.

Various social workers, organisations and local representatives continued to do their bits in the face of lockdown imposed to contain COVID-19 by handing out edible items to the households across the Thoubal district.

Ningthoujam Santi Devi, Ward No 15 Councillor at Thoubal Municipal Council (TMC), handed out edible items today to around 800 households in Babu Bazar, Lathikhol, Khong Ahanbi, Heibong Leirak, Khundongbam Leikai which lies within TMC Ward No 15.Ward Member of TMC Ward No 1, N Nanda also took out distributed food items to every household of Thoubal Okram, Wangamataba Sorok Makha and Doctor Maning along with the volunteers of clubs in his ward such as YDO, SARU, SSAWA and OYC.

Khangabok Part-I Gram Panchayat's Pradhan Ningthoujam Mala Devi also distributed edible items to the households within her GP.

Kelimakhong Development Organisation (KDO) Thoubal Leishangthem also took up similar humanitarian work at its locality.

H Ranjit, secretary of KDO urged the authorities concerned to start supplying water to the local residents as the Thoubal River is almost dried up and water left in it is mostly muddy and unsuitable for human consumption.

Former TMC Ward No 4 Councillor, Asem Basanta and incumbent Councillor Ak Chandrajini also distributed food supplies to every household in the Ward.

Councillor of Ward No 9 at Yairipok Municipal Council (YMC) , Longjam Kamala Devi along with Ward Members Maibam Shelung Longjam Memchoubi Leima also went out to help lockdown affected residents with edible items such as potatoes, salt, cooking oil and onions.

Social worker Laishram Domen also came out to distribute sugar, pulses, salt, potatoes etc to the residents of Yairipok Kekru Mathak Leikai Ward No 9 under 32-Wangkhem AC with a bid to mitigate the hardships being faced by the people.

Former Minister, Th Shyamkumar along with Sacrifice Youth Development Organization (SYDO) and Polling Committee 7/22 also handed out relief materials and edible items to residents of Yairipok Tulihal Awang Leikai Ward No 1 and 2.Senjam Aboy Meetei, a resident of Yairipok Top Chingtha on the other hand, doled out edible items to residents of Toubul Kabui Khul in Bishnupur district with an objective of reinforcing the communal harmony between the hill and valley people.

CCpur: Covenant Children's Home, a non-profit organization set up in 2002 and based in Churachandpur has today distributed food items to daily wage earners, a statement issued by the home said.

In order to supplement the efforts of the Government in its fight against the pandemic COVID-19 and in response to the call for support made by the Ministry of Home Affairs, and State Government (Home) for association's support for COVID-19 related service, CCH is distributing food items (rice and dal) to a few identified daily wage earners and poor families without jobs today.

The Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur district has consented and acknowledged the activity,' it said.

The children home that currently shelter about 401 orphan children said they are providing a safe haven and hope for the children with the objective of moulding them into self-reliant adult.

Goods and essential supplies were also distributed at Tamaram village under Angtha GP (Imphal East), Sugnu Ward no 2 (Kakching), Yairipok Bamon Leikai (Thoubal), localities under Sikhong Sekmai Municipal Council (Thoubal), Ward no 9 of Yairipok Municipal Council, Laiching Khuman Village (Tengnoupal), Chandropoto and 7 Chothe Villages in Chandel district, Longmai (Noney) area, New Magaimei Village, Senapati and several localities under Bishnupur district.
