Returnees to be quarantined

Imphal, April 10 2020:
Even if the ongoing lockdown is opened after completion of 21 days, all the people who return to the State from different parts of India and abroad would be put in quarantine centres.
A high level meeting presided by Principal Secretary (Health) V Vumlunmang has decided to put all returnees from outside the State in quarantine centres even if the existing ban on inter-State movement is lifted.
The meeting which was also participated by Chief Medical Officers of both Imphal West and Imphal East district decided to house all returnees in two quarantine centres which would be opened in the two districts.
The two particular quarantine centres would have the capacity of 500 beds each, informed a source.
Officials concerned have been instructed to procure necessary materials for opening the two quarantine centres.
It is reported that a survey is going on in Lilong area.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan today reviewed the COVID-19 control measures taken up by State Governments together with Health Ministers of States through video conferencing.
Health Minister L Jayantakumar, Principal Secretary (Health) V Vumlunmang and Health Director Dr K Rajo represented the State during the video conference, added the source.
