Office ransacked

Furious over the alleged negligence of the authority concerned to provide adequate infrastructure including benches, students of DM College of Science today damaged the Principal' office door and windows.
They also destroyed table and chairs inside the office.
Speaking to media persons later, finance secretary of DMC Sc Students' Union, Lairenjam Rameshwari said many students of the college face untold hardships due to inadequate benches in the classrooms .
Teachers have to undergo physical discomfort due to prolonged and outdated use of blackboard, chalk and duster.
The long felt need of replacing blackboard by white board has not yet realised, she said .
Besides many other infrastructure deficit, the building walls of the college are in a state of decay .
The students' union submitted several memoranda to the Principal demanding adequate infrastructure so that the students can concentrate on their studies without unnecessary mental disturbances.
Sadly, no positive action has been taken up so far, Rameshwari said .
Given the worn out buildings, there is strong possibility of huge casualty in case a high magnitude earthquake strikes during classes, she said while wondering to whom the responsibility would be fixed when such unwanted things occurs .
Irate students vented their grievances today damaging the door, windows and others of the Principal's office .
Even as the Principal wrote to the Education Dept to provide adequate infrastructure umpteen times, nothing positive has been done till date .
Besides, the students' union representatives had also met the Director of Education in this regard many times .
Rameshwari further said that it is very shameful on the part of the Govt to push for Dhanamanjuri University when the Colleges are without adequate infrastructure.
