Mosquito nets sterilised

Bishnupur, August 04 2017:
In a view to prevent mosquito diseases which resulted from the recent flash flood, Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL) Bishnupur in collaboration with Medical Department and PHED, Bishnupur sterilized many mosquito nets in Thanga Oinam Leikai today .
Altogether 300 mosquito nets from houses of Thanga Oinam Leikai and people residing at relief camp in Ibudhou Guru Nongshaba Laibung were disinfected .
Bleaching powder, alum etc were also distributed by PHED to nearly 80 houses, reports our correspondent .
Speaking to our correspondent, District Malaria officer Dr Th Nabakishore Singh stated that the recent flood has resulted in the rise of many endemic diseases including Japanese Encephalitis .
He stated that it has affected six person and one person has been found positive with Dengue in Bishnupur district .
Fogging has been conducted in areas which have been marked and confirmed with JE and dengue cases and today many mosquito nets have also been disinfected as a part of the initiative .
ANUL president lauded the Health Department and PHED for agreeing to conduct such initiative in the flood hit areas.
