Prospective Repertory Theatre's play Black Orchid would open the International Business Summit scheduled to be held at Delhi for three days starting from February 8 .
The international business summit would be hosted by Development of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.
Notably, Black Orchid produced by the Nambol based theatre group represented Manipur in the International Theatre Festival, Bharat Ranga Mahotsav 2010 held recently at Delhi.
The play was hailed as one of the most appreciated plays by international audience during the festival.
It was after watching the play at the Mahotsav that Black Orchid was selected by DST, Government of India to open the International Business Summit.
The Prospective Repertory Theatre was invited by DST Director Dr Rajender Zadali to stage Black Orchid at the opening function of the business summit.
The play is written by theatre critic of The Sangai Express (Manipuri edition) Budha Chingtham and directed by National School of Drama alumni Toijam Shila Devi.
The play makes a graphic portrayal of the social realities of Manipur in the backdrop of the prevailing conflict situation, particularly the myriad difficulties and plight being encountered by weaker sections, women and children.
To stage the play at Delhi, 16 artistes and crew members of the Prospective Repertory Theatre would leave Imphal on February 4, said a press release.
