Imphal, July 30 2016 :
Irate members of the JAC constituted against the death of Asha worker Laishram Rasamni of Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai today resorted to vandalism at RIMS complex.
At around 1.30 pm, JAC members came to RIMS campus to meet the Director and submit a memorandum regarding the demise of the 42-year-old woman.
However, they became furious as they were not allowed to meet the Director.
They vandalised the Casualty counter, OPD counter and broke other window panes.
The JAC members also damaged biometric attendance machines kept at the entrance of the Medical Superintendent's office and CCTV cameras.
They confronted a police team for around two hours as they also tried to storm the A-Block of the medical institute.
Later, RIMS Medical Superintendant talked with three selected members of the JAC in his office.
A JAC member said that the Medical Superintendant had assured them to investigate the incident within four days.
He further said that the MS also assured them to take action against the responsible doctors and staff if the inquiry report indicates their negligence.
Meanwhile, in a statement the JAC alleged that Rasamani died due to the negligence of the Casualty doctors and nurses.
Had necessary treatment been given on time, Rasamni's life could have been saved, the JAC said.
It questioned why RIMS authority had not taken any action against the RMO who was on duty on July 28 night.
The JAC said that it is questionable why the RMO showed up only when Rasamni was about to breathe her last.
Stating that they would not claim the body until action against the RMO is taken, the JAC said that RIMS authority must be held responsible for any eventuality arising out of the incident.
