MLAs visit Kabui Khullen

A team of
four MLAs yesterday visited
Kabui Khullen Part-I in
Tamenglong district�the
epicentre of the powerful
earthquake that shook the
region on Jan 4, and extended
assistance to the villagers.
At the same time, Kabui
Khullen Part-I villagers have
initiated steps to shift to another
location.
The village
falls under Tamenglong AC.
MLAs TN Haokip, Kh
Debendro, RK Imo and
Janghemlung Pamei visited
the village and extended aid
to the earthquake affected villagers.

Janghemlung Pamei assured
the villagers that he would
hand over their memorandum
to the Govt seeking assistance
for their relocation to
another place.
He also assured
to personally pursue the
demand.
MLA RK Imo urged all
concerned to deliberate on
ways and means to face such
calamity in future instead of
trying to gain political mileage
out of the catastrophe.
The MLAs extended financial
assistance to the
villagers.
VT Mazathui, a villager,
said that the villagers are deciding
to shift to another
location as per the advice of
experts.
One of the oldest villages
in Tamenglong district, Kabui
Khullen was once known as
Longjang.
The name Kabui
Khullen was given by Manipur King Khagemba during his visit to the place.
The village has about 56 households with a population of
385.Eleven houses completely collapsed in the earthquake on
Jan 4 while eleven others were partially damaged.
Six persons including a 91-year old woman were injured.
The villagers have decided to shift to a suitable location
between Kabui Khullen Part-II and Part III .
