Imphal, May 06 2020:
Food items provided to Sana Konung by Maram Union were distributed to different homes operating in the State, today.
A bag of rice and a variety of vegetables each were given to Needy Home Academy, Mapau Khullen; Needy Home at Langol Laimanai and home at Nongmeibung operated by All Manipur Women Organisation by the titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba.
Moreh
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) Tengnoupal provided edible items to poor 150 families in Moreh.
On the other hand, International Human Rights' Organisation, Manipur and 20 Assam Rifles also distributed food items to 100 households of Chalwa Village and Cananphai Village.
BGVS Manipur reaches out
Sharing the hardships being faced by people of the land during this Nationwide lockdown, the Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti (BGVS) reached out to people of Kangpokpi area with relief items.
V Rollen Dumai, president, BGVS, Manipur during the distribution said that the step was taken as a sign of love and concern for the people of the region.
Biplab Ghosh, National Executive Committee member of the BGVS who is also in charge of the North East urged all to fight the pandemic together through the cooperation of all to defeat the spread of the disease.
BGVS provided food items to 26 people from Phyapou village and Daili village and 25 people from Kalapahar Mahika under Kangpokpi district.
Bank of Baroda
Ninety households in Kwakeithel Leimakhujam Leikai were distributed edibles (rice and dal) by Local Youth Development Association (LYDA), Kwakeithel Leimakhujam Leikai under the sponsorship of Bank of Baroda, Kwakeithel Branch.
Generally, 5 kgs of rice and 1 kg of dal were provided, but economically weaker households were given 7 kgs of rice and 1 kg of dal while 10 kgs of rice and 1 kilo of dal were distributed to 10 select widows.
Bishnupur
Bishnupur Block Congress Committee (BBCC) has provided relief materials to members of All Bishnupur District Working Journalist Union (ABDWJU) .
On behalf of BBCC, Bishnupur C MLA Govindas Konthoujam provided a bag of rice (50 kgs) and cash assistance of Rs 3,000 each to 15 journalists based in the district.
The distribution ceremony held at the Ningthoukhong resident of Govindas Konthoujam was participated by BBCC president Ch Ibotombi Singh and Ningthoukhong Municipal Council, Chairperson L Ibungo among others.
On the other hand, a campaign initiated by Wildlife Institute of India (WWI), Dehradun and Forest Department, Manipur to reach out to underprivileged families living in the surrounding areas of Keibul Lamjao National Park with essential commodities concluded, today.
The campaign began on April 30 with the help of local clubs.
The beneficiaries were selected as per the socio-economic survey taken out in the surrounding areas of Keibul Lamjao on 2017-18 .
The relief items were procured by the money contributed by researchers of WWI, officials of Forest Department, and different clubs such as Sangai Protection Forum.
On the last day of the campaign, relief materials and food items were distributed to about 400 households under Thanga Assembly Constituency.
MMOF
Under the aegis of Indian Muslim Relief and Charities (IMRC) USA and Sahayata Trust Hyderabad and as part of 9th Poor Feeding Programme 2020, Manipur Muslim Online Forum (MMOF) distributed food items to 100 households at Langthabal Khunou.
The distribution programme was arranged in association with Langthabal Khunou Rural Development Association.
UPC
The United Progressive Club (UPC) also reached out to 520 poor families from different localities under Wangjing.
10 kgs of rice, dal, potatoes and edible oil were given to the select families.
CRC's aid continues
COVID-19 Relief Committee (CRC), Kakching Khunou distributed face masks alongwith rice and pulses to 25 selected backward households each at New Chayang and Leingangching villages on May 3 .
Such assistance will continue, said CRC in a statement today.
Mentioning the activities conducted in the 1st phase and 2nd phase of the lockdown, CRC said they have distributed medicines alongwith other relief materials.
In the 1st phase, they distributed rice and pulses to the selected households of Kakching Khunou and some hill villages nearby.
From April 29 in the 2nd phase, they distributed essential medicines to 17 individuals of Kakching Khunou and its surrounding villages.
The medicines were procured from Imphal.
Moreover, on April 30 they inspected the quarantine centre at JNV Sandhum Achouba, Umathel.
On May 1, CRC donated eatable items to 50 security personnel on duty from Thaunaojam to Pangantabi village and on May 2 to the staff at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Kakching Khunou.
MO incharge of the PHC also gifted face masks to the Relief Committee.
CRC will continue the assistance at different places with the help of the public.
KKL organizes exchange of relief materials
Amid the Nationwide lockdown, Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) organized exchange of relief materials between the hill and valley people today at Changangei Uchekon.
The exchange of relief items was successfully held with the support of Uchekon Youth Volunteers Organization, L Roma Leima, Pradhan Changangei GP and Changangei Uchekon Choukhat Thourang Nupi Lup said KKL.
The team of hill people was led by Thomas Abonmei, chairman of K Lungwiram village and Pastor Alung Chawang and the relief items included plantain stalks, bananas and other vegetable items, it informed.
From the valley side, 2 bags of atta, 100 packets of salt, 80 bottles of edible oil and 100 pieces of soap were donated to the hill people.
The programme was conducted under the theme 'Uniting the Indigenous People of Kangleipak, the Spirit of Oneness' and KKL said it will continue such humanitarian services in different parts of the State.
MMWO extends help
Manipur Muslim Welfare Association (MMWO) today distributed relief materials at Chadong village to help the people during the hardship due to the COVID-19 lockdown, said a press release issued by MMWO.
In a continuation of their relief work, MMWO reached out at several areas of Kakching district - Keirak, Sekmaijing, Ngakhapat, Hayel Labuk, Hangoon, Santhel, Uchiwa, Nastao, Khelakhong,
today, added the statement.
