Indo-Myanmar border inspected

Several local officials today inspected the temporary fences and police outpost erected along the porous Indo-Myanmar border under Sangaikot sub-division in Churachandpur district in a bid to assess the efficacy of the exercise to contain cross-border movement, reports our correspondent.
The official team comprising of Thangboi Gangte, Addl DC Churachandpur; Lawrence K Munluo, Addl SP (Ops) Churachandpur; Zosanglur Zote, SDO Sangaikot and Inspector Elvy Tunglut, OC Sangaikot PS reportedly took stock of the situation there.
They inspected the temporary police outpost erected at L Khaukual, the last border village on the Indian side as well as the bamboo fences erected along the international boundary.
The officials were assisted by KSO Sangaikot and Solam Haopi Area Chief Association leaders.
It is learnt that chief of L Khaukual village requested the visiting officials to set-up a permanent police outpost at the village as he expect it to be valuable even in the post Covid-19 scenario.
The police outpost is said to have effectively checked hunters who often venture into Myanmar territory.
