Lamka, October 26 2009:
In connection with the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 4.54 crores from UBI Churachandpur branch, the Churachandpur District Students' Union (CDSU), an apex student body of the district, today called on the Chief Secretary and urged for his immediate intervention.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the union said in demanding a thorough investigation against DRDA officials, particularly RK Biren Singh EE/DRDA, it petitioned the Additional SP who is also the IO but was denied to their utter dismay.
Later, the office copy of the union was returned with a remark of the same FIR No.which was already filed by the concern EE/DRDA, it maintained adding that, 'no action has been initiated against the main accused as per our (their) petition'.
The memorandum of the union also questioned why they were cheated and denied whereas the police have already registered another fraud case against the same accused person in the earlier FIR of the EE.
Some of the main reasons why the CDSU demanded a thorough investigation, including all the circumstances leading to the crime are if indeed the money was MSDP fund why a separate account as was the norm not maintained.
When and how the said fund reached the district and in whose account the fund was released and remitted by the central government and the circumstances in which the said amount was deposited in RK Biren's account, the student body further posed.
Bank accounts maintained and operated both in SBI and UBI in the name of RK Biren and EE/DRDA, and transaction made since opening the account should be authenticated, the CDSU insisted and called for investigation into the news reports about discrediting of some amount.
