CM Ibobi fails to keep his words
Unable to provide piglets to beneficiaries

The Chief Minister O Ibobi has failed to keep his promises made during the second session of the 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly held on March 22 last and is still unable to provide piglets to 299 beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister while replying to a calling attention motion moved jointly by Opposition MLA Dr I Ibohalbi and MLA Kh Joykishan in connection with a news report published in Hueiyen Lanpao wherein it was said that the Veterinary Department is set to abolish RKVY scheme by misusing Rs 50 lakhs meant for supplying piglets to 299 beneficiaries, had clarified that "the funds have not been misused and the beneficiaries will be provided piglets very soon" .
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, some of the beneficiaries demanded that the reasons behind the inability of the Chief Minister to keep his promise for providing piglets should be made known to the public at the earliest.
The beneficiaries further stated that the retirement of the Director of Veterinary Department is nearing and before his retirement, the Director should clarify on the misuse of the funds of RKVY and a report on the issue should be made before the public.
A meeting for implementation of the RKVY Scheme in the state was held in the early part of 2009-10 with Principal Secretary, IS Laishram in the chair.
The meeting was also attended by DirectorTh Rajen, Joint Director (Administration) Dr L Sarmatkumar and Deputy Director Dr H Chaoba.
The meeting discussed issues related to the sanctioned amount of Rs 1 crore by the State Agriculture Department to the Veterinary Department for the implementation of RKVY Scheme.
From the sanctioned amount, piggery development programme was prepared under three components.
An amount of Rs 50 lakhs was allotted for construction of Tarungpokpi Piggery farm where 50 piglets could accommodate.
Another 35.02 lakhs was assigned for beneficiary oriented scheme for the piggery development while the remaining Rs 18.98 was assigned for fodder development.
Under the said scheme all the beneficiaries were supposed to be given 3 female and one male piglet in addition to Rs 8500 each while all other requirements have to be borne by the beneficiaries themselves.
