Decks cleared for presidential poll

Imphal, July 17 2012:
For the presidential poll scheduled on July 19, the State Election Office has made all preparations, informed Chief Electoral Officer PC Lawmkunga.
The total vote value for Manipur in the presidential election would be 3208 .
Notably, the presidential election is a straight fight between BJP backed Purno Agitok Sangma and UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee.
Votes for the presidential election would be cast between 10 am and 5 pm of July 19 in the polling station opened inside the committee room of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, the CEO told media persons at Old Secretariat conference hall this afternoon.
Returning Officer for the presidential poll is Rajya Sabha Secretary General Dr Vivek K Agnihotri.
At the State level, Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretary Y Indira Devi and Deputy Secretary M Ramani Devi have been designated as Assistant Returning Officers.
Further, the Election Commission of India has appointed Ministry of Labour and Employment Joint Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey has been appointed as observer for voting at Imphal.
The CEO said that the value of each vote cast by MLAs of the State would be 18 which means the total vote value for the 60 MLAs of the State is 1080 .
The three MPs would have total vote value of 2124 with each of them having vote value of 708 .
Cellular phones, cordless phones and wireless sets would be banned at the polling station on the day of polling.
The ballot box would be taken to New Delhi next day.
Counting of votes would be done in the office of the Returning Officer inside the Parliament House on July 22 .
Meanwhile, the CEO today inspected the polling station opened inside the Assembly complex.
It is reported that rehearsal for the presidential poll was also conducted today.
