NRHM Mission Director inspects

NRHM State Mission Director Dr Okram Ibomcha inspected medical facilities in Chandel district today.
He was accompanied by Chandel CMO Dr N Birchandra and other officials.
Speaking to reporters at CHC Chakpikarong, Dr Okram Ibomcha said that the main objective of his inspection tour was to look into infrastructure needs with regard to child birth at different medical facilities of the district.
Saying that Manipur has registered lowest infant mortality rate in the whole of India, Dr Ibomcha said that the Centre has asked the State authorities to bring down this rate further.
The current infant mortality rate of Manipur is 1000:10, he said and added that the Centre has asked to further cut down this rate to 1000:6 .
Regarding CHC Chakpikarong, Dr Ibomcha said that apart from deputing more specialist doctors, X-ray and ultrasound machines would be installed at the CHC within this week.
Radiant warmer, photo therapy machine and solar powered ILR are all functional now, he said and added that a generator set has also been installed to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
ASHAs have been instructed to mobilise more expecting mothers to deliver their child at the CHC so that they may get the entitled benefits of delivery in a Government medical facility, he added.
Dr Birchandra said that CHC Chakpikarong had lots of infrastructure inadequacies in the past, however the centre has all the equipment now a CHC should have.
Apart from the equipments mentioned above by the Mission Director, the CHC also has a dental chair and a photo therapy machine, he added.
After CHC Chakpikarong, the State medical authority is putting in effort to function PHC Tengnoupal 24x7 .
Later, the team surveyed the land for construction of a PHSC at Leingangching village.
Dr Ibomcha assured the villagers there to start construction works by September this year.
The team also visited PHC Komlathabi later.
After looking into infrastructure needs, Dr Ibomcha assured the staff of the PHC to install all the necessary equipments required for child delivery within this week.
