CM reviews law and order situation : No novel idea spelt out, 'verbal' security set up

In the wake of the recent spate of bomb blasts within Imphal Municipal area, Chief Minister O Ibobi today convened a meeting and reviewed the prevailing law and order situation.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who is also in charge of Home Department, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, DGP MK Das, Principal Secretary (Home) Suresh Babu, SPs of Imphal West and Imphal East, and high ranking intelligence officers attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed re-structuring police functioning as well as the support needed by the department from the Government.
Another agenda of the meeting was taking up preventive actions by police in order to avert similar bomb attacks and remove the sense of insecurity felt by general public in the aftermath of the recent serial bomb blasts which have claimed three lives and injured nine.
The meeting discussed about clearing garbage and waste materials piled up on road sides and keep street lamps operational so as to facilitate police take up effective security measures.
As part of the preventive actions police would take up, all police personnel should remain vigilant and they should discharge their duty in such a way that they receive public cooperation, the meeting stressed.
Strengthening intelligence networks was another agenda of the meeting.
Meanwhile, security measures have been tightened in and around Imphal city with police teams led by ADGP (L/O) LM Khaute, IGP (L/O) L Kailun and DIG (Range-I) Clay Khongsai patrolling different areas of Imphal city on foot during night.
