In view of the scheduled inauguration of the three newly constructed market complexes of Khwairamband Keithel, Works Minister K Ranjit has been stationing himself together with engineers concerned to ensure that the market complexes are fully completed ahead of the inauguration.
Talking to The Sangai Express, Works Minister K Ranjit said that they have invited UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to inaugurate the three market complexes being constructed with assistance from Urban Development Ministry in the first week of November.
After construction of New Market and Luxmi Market, the NBCC withdrew from the contract which also included construction of Ima Market, citing law and order situation.

Subsequently, Works Department took over construction work of Ima Market with due permission from Urban Development Ministry which in turn entrusted the same responsibility to Simplex Infra.
Construction work of Ima Market commenced from October 25, 2007, Ranjit said.
Under the Chief Minister, the Works Minister and PWD engineers have been putting up the nights at the work site supervising construction/renovation of footpaths and drains.
All the necessary construction works would be completed by October 20, Ranjit claimed.
Moreover, white washing work of the two market complexes constructed by NBCC is going on in full swing.
To provide uninterrupted water supply to the three market complexes, three water tanks of capacity 2.50 lakh litres each have been constructed.
Moreover, for providing potable water to Kangla, the main road in front of IMC office was dug out and water pipes laid last night under the supervision of the Works Minister and engineers of PHED and Power Department.
In the same process, power cables for supplying power through underground cables was also laid last night.
Electricity for consumption of Imphal city would be supplied from Kangla.
The Works Minister rued that construction work of Ima Keithel could have been completed much earlier had there been no bandhs, blockades and other disturbing issues.
