Even as the body of youth gunned down by Assam Rifles personnel in a Bishnupur district area has been claimed by family members, locals of Uchiwa Santhel condemned the October 5 firing incident that injured a youth.
The body of Oinam Brojen who was shot dead by 7 Assam Rifles men on the intervening nights of October 2 and 3 at Wangoo Maning Leikai under Kumbi police station was claimed by his bereaved family members after the postmortem at RIMS Hospital today.
Oinam Brojen (35) s/o Oinam Lilando of Wangoo Warupok Basti was a teacher of Warupok LP School.
He was a married person with three sons and a daughter.
He had reportedly gone to the local Pujah pandal on October 2 at around 7 pm but did not return back.
His body was laying at the RIMS mortuary with the JAC formed in connection with his killing claiming the youth to be an innocent person.
But as the body started decomposing and arrangement was being made to hand over the same to Imphal Municipality for disposal, family members came to take back the body.
At Uchiwa Santhel Bazar a public meeting held today strongly condemned the firing incident that took place at Mayang Imphal Konchak in which miscreants fired at a passenger bus (MN01/1220) injuring one Md Azad Shah (26) s/o (L) Md Mahamuddin Shah of Uchiwa Santhel.

The deceased Santosh (14) was also a resident of Singjamei Bheigyapati Leikai.
The accused person who stabbed him to death identified as Leishangthem Naoba (17) from the same locality had already been rounded up by the locals and his house dismantled by an infuriated mob.
However, the body of a non-Manipuri who was found dead inside his own rented room at Shantipur, Kanglatongbi under Sekmai Police Station on October 4 morning is still lying at the mortuary of RIMS hospital awaiting identification.
