With the State Assembly elections approaching fast, BJP National general secretary and Lok Sabha MP Thawarchand Gehlot and general secretary (organisation) Sanjoy Joshi arrived at Imphal today in a bid to revamp and strengthen BJP Manipur Pradesh.
Soon after their arrival, the BJP leaders held a meeting with the State executive members and office bearers of BJP State unit at its office at Nityapat Chuthek.
The meeting was also attended by BJP zonal organising secretary of North East (border states) V Satish and coordinator of Nagaland and Manipur Avinash Kohli who have been in Imphal since some days .
The meeting which continued till late evening made serious deliberations on the ways and means to fight the forthcoming elections successfully in addition to the postponed organisational elections of BJP State unit.
The central leaders not only gave a patient listening but also studied various proposals put up by BJP State unit leaders to contest the forthcoming elections successfully.
Even as some State unit leaders maintained that conducting organisational elections when the assembly elections are round the corner might weaken the party, the central leaders made no comments.
During tomorrow's meeting scheduled at 9:30 am, the central leaders might suggest measures to strengthen and consolidate their position in Manipur besides conveying the views of the BJP high command.
