Imphal, May 15 2021:
Expressing concern over the unprecedented impact of Covid-19 second wave in the state, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has appealed to the people to help one another and also extend all possible support to the healthcare workers (HWCs) who are fighting relentlessly against the pandemic.
In a release, AMUCO stated that saving lives of the people should be the sole responsibility of all and the easiest way to fight Covid-19 pandemic is through perseverance, precaution and sincere effort.
Urging the people to help the health care workers in their activities including in treatment, conducting test and vaccination, the release exhorted the people, particularly local clubs and leaders to take the lead role in enforcing preventive measures in their respective localities.
Manipur will surely face an unprecedented situation where Covid-19 will engulf the state if people continue to wait only for the initiatives of the government.
As it would not be an easy task to fight the pandemic as it is a new disease, there is the need to improvise while tackling the infectious disease, AMUCO opined and stressed that the people should strictly follow the directives given by experts and government for containing the virus.
Instead of simply criticising inadequacy of the initiatives taken up for containing the virus, constructive criticism and suggestion should be propagated.
Everyone should take their responsibilities in the fight against Covid-19 and those who take the main roles should never walk away from their duties, AMUCO said.
Noting that some people continue to gather in groups for gambling and playing ludo games despite the curfew and lockdown imposed by the government for containing the virus, AMUCO urged the people to join hands and restrict such activities and also appealed to those neglecting the restrictive measures to understand the evolving crisis situation.
Instead of simply fearing and thinking that the virus is a dangerous one, there is the need to change the perspective on the virus.
People need to think that Covid-19 is spreading because of our recklessness and negligence.
It is not as fearsome as considered if people take extra care.
Moreover, appropriate measures should put in place, AMUCO opined.
Reiterating the call to the people and local clubs for extending all possible help to the health care workers, AMUCO urged the state government to take up necessary measures in due consideration of the wishes of the people so that people fighting the pandemic are not demoralised.
"We should become brave soldiers in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic by taking up and following precautionary measures", it remarked.
