Governor visits quake victims

Imphal, January 10 2016:
A day after Chief Minister
Okram Ibobi visited the
earthquake relief camps,
Governor V Shanmuganathan
visited earthquake victims at
these camps located in four
different places near Motbung
today.
Over 500 people are taking
shelter at these relief
camps at Charhazare, Motbung,
Chalbung and Gorkha
Bosti.
The Governor interacted
with the displaced people at
the camps and assured all
assistance from the Government.
While expressing concerns
and sadness over the devastating
earthquake, he also
expressed his solidarity to the
victims including women and
children.
Most of the affected people
are residents of Nepali
dominated areas between
Motbung and Kanglatongbi,
and interior areas of Senapati
district.
The Governor heard the
victims patiently during the
interaction.
He assured all possible
assistance to rebuild their
houses and provide basic
amenities at the earliest.
He personally inspected
the condition of Government
medical facilities, schools,
offices and marketsheds etc.
Later in the afternoon, he
visited the three persons, who
suffered injuries in the earthquake
at Shija hospital.
He assured them all possible
assistance from the State
and Central Governments.
The Government takes the
matter seriously and the authority
concerned has been
assessing the loss and putting
in efforts to provide assistance
to the victims, he said.
The Chief Minister visited
the relief camps in Senapati
district and promised to provide
financial support and
rehabilitation to the victims on
Saturday.
