Imphal-Moreh bandh called off

After eight days, the indefinite bandh imposed along Imphal-Moreh section of National Highway (NH)-102 spearheaded by Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against Atrocities of Central Security Forces, Chandel District was finally called off from Friday night.
The indefinite bandh was called off following an understanding reached between DIG 26 Sector Assam Rifles (AR) Brig.
Rajiv Chibber and members of the JAC in the presence Additional SP Chandel and villagers of Tengnoupal at a meeting held Friday afternoon at the residence of Tengnoupal Village Chief.
During the meeting, the DIG 26 Sector AR assured to fulfill the demands of the JAC and offered an apology on behalf of the 24 AR.
AR also agreed to host a feast in accordance with the customary law as part of a compromise on Sunday.

Angshel Lamkang said that the decision to call off the indefinite bandh was jointly taken by the JAC and the villagers of Tengnoupal following an understanding with the DIG 26 Sector Assam Rifles after a meeting held at the residence of the Village Chief.
While expressing gratitude to all the individuals and civil society organisations of the State particularly the UCM and UNC who extended support to the agitation, Sk.
Angshel Lamkang expressed gratitude to the state government for putting up the demands of the JAC before a meeting of the Unified Command.
The committee also expressed gratitude to D.Korungthang MLA Tengnoupal A/C; Lhukhosei Zou, Chairman ADC Chandel; LM Khaute, Addl.
DGP; Brig.
Rajiv Chibber, DIG 26 Sector AR and BJP Manipur Pradesh for their efforts in addressing the grievances of the people, he added.
