Information Centre for Hill Areas, Manipur (ICHAM) has felicitated meritorious students, three each from all the five hill districts of the State who secured the highest mark in the HSLC examination, 2008 with cash reward and certificate during a function at Press Club here today.
Starting from this year, the cash award to be presented to meritorious students from hill districts of Manipur is being donated by ICHAM president N Rajendro in memory of his departed son N Rahul alias Thoithoi alias Bungcha.
The meritorious students who were honoured at the occasion and the percentage of the marks secured by them are Ngamkholian Haokip (99.5 percent) of St Mary's High School (CCpur), Gin Khan Khup (90.2 percentage) of Chingkham Modern High School (CCpur) and Hau Suanlal (88.5 percentage) of Blue Star Academy (CCpur) from Churachandpur district, Ng Fadia Mayon (85 percentage) of Liwachangning Government High School (Kapaam) and Ibolinri Lukhu Anal (77.8 percent) of Maha Union High School (Japhou) from Chandel district, Ramana (67.6 percent) of Sharon English High School (Noney), Gairangam Panmei (62.8 percentage) of Don Bosco High School (Khoupum) and Titanglak Kamei (60.6 percentage) of Khangsillung Higher Secondary School (Khoupum) from Tamenglong district; R Shanreiyo (80 percent) of Alice Christian Higher Secondary School (Alungtang), KS Joshua Ramung (78.7 percentage) of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School (Hundung) and Lakngam Angkang (77.1 percentage) of Ukhrul Public School (Viewland) from Ukhrul district and T Caroline Chawang (85 percentage) of Maram Don Bosco, T Bembem (81.84 percentage) of Maram Don Bosco and P Charani (75.83 percentage) of Maram Don Bosco from Senapati district.
Advisor of ICHAM and News Editor of AIR Station Imphal BB Sharma and another ICHAM advisor K Madhumangol attended the felicitation function as chief guest and president respectively.
ICHAM advisor I Arun, News editor of ISTV Rupachandra, ICHAM advisor Khelen Thokchom, Aja editor Valley Rose, chief advisor of ICHAM MK Shimray, ICHAM advisor Kh Robindro and social worker Ashwinikumar Moirangthem were guests of honour of the function.
All those who spoke at the occasion maintained that encouraging meritorious students from the hill districts of Manipur would held in promotion of cordial relationship between the hill and the valley people.
They also expressed confidence that the student toppers would also work towards this end.
