Protests against extension of the Naga ceasefire to Manipur continued today with protestors burning tyres along the Tiddim road after the curfew relaxation hours are over.
Soon after the dark the Tiddim Road was on fire right from.
gunshots filled the air tonight.
Earlier in the day thousands of college and school students of the State joined hands to stage mass sit-in-protest and rallies against the ceasefire extension.
Meetings were also held in various places demanding the revocation of the Centre�s decision.
Students of TG Higher Secondary School, CC Higher Secondary School, Johnstone Higher Secondary, Ram Lal Paul, Ibotonsana Higher Secondary and Modern Higher Secondary carried out a sit-in-protest at Keishampat Traffic point along the Tiddim road from 10 am today.
Later the students staged a ceasefire protest march in the city at around 1.30 pm.
The rally went through Keishamthong Nambul Mapal and after passing though Thumbuthong, Bamon Leikai, Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal and Wangkhei Kongba Road converged at the Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre where a meeting was held.
During the meeting student leaders aired their opposition to the extension of ceasefire and paid respect to the victims of the anti-truce uprising by observing a two minutes silence.
The congregation resolved to oppose the area extension, demand release of AMSU leaders without any condition and to take part in every agitation to safeguard the State�s territory.
The meeting concluded with the shouting of slogans for saving the State territory and opposing truce extension.
Security personnel foiled a rally by the students of Blooming Flower School, Sacred Heart School, Khurai Girls and Gour Govinda Collge in Khurai area at around 10 this morning.
Students of Eastern Girls Higher Secondary, Singjamei Boys and Girls Higher Secondary carried out a dharna at Singjamei Bhagyabati Leikai.
