Imphal, May 19 2021:
Locals of Thouda Bhabok Leikai have strongly condemned the attack on a van dispatched by Republican Party of India (Athawale) state president Maheshwar Thounaojam, who is preparing to contest the upcoming 12th State Assembly Election from Keishamthong AC, for delivering food items to Covid-affected people on Tuesday.
Addressing a press meet held at Thouda Bhabok Leikai here on Wednesday, one Celina Takhellambam condemned that attack on the van and its driver by unknown miscreants near the residence of another candidate aspirant in the locality on Tuesday.
It is unfortunate that some people are trying to take political advantage when everyone is trying to help their fellow humans amidst this dreaded pandemic, she remarked.
Recounting the incident, Celina said that no items were delivered to the said residence but was merely enquiring about the locality.
However, a man from the residence termed it as disrespectful.
As the driver was trying to turn the vehicle around, some people emerged and starting attacking the vehicle and the driver, she added.
Thus, Celina appealed to all concerned not to take political advantage when all that Maheshwar Thounaojam is trying to do is to help the people during the pandemic.
