Mass vaccination programmes, testing camps conducted across state

In view of low rate of vaccination, a mass vaccination camp was conducted for the sixth time at Sora under Kakching assembly constituency at the Sora Mamang Leikai residence of Kakching Zilla Parishad up-adhyaksha Md Nazimuddin on Saturday.
The camp was jointly organised by Kakching District Health Society, Md Nazimuddin, Anjuman Nasrul Islam (Ulama-e-Association), Sora president ML Zulfiqar Alam Sheikh and Kakching assembly constituency Polling No 37/29 BJP Polling Committee under the aegis of Kakching MLA M Rameshwar.
During the camp, a team of Primary Health Centre, Pallel led by MO incharge Dr Khangembam Gopeshore along with local ASHA workers and volunteers vaccinated 230 people.
Speaking to the media while personally overseeing the camp, MLA Rameshwar noted that people of Sora have started to volunteer for the vaccination.
To ensure maximum numbers of people receive the Covid-19 vaccine doses, more such camps will be conducted in other parts of Sora, he said.
Dr Kh Gopeshore informed that there are 4200 vaccination eligible people in Sora, out of which, 1076 have been vaccinated so far since the mass vaccination camp began on July 14.Similarly, a mass vaccination camp was organised at Chirag English School, Sora Maning Leikai on Friday, during which 150 people were vaccinated.
On the other hand, 398 people were vaccinated during a mass vaccination drive conducted at Kongba Kshetri Leikai under Thongju AC on Saturday.
The programme was attended by works minister Th Biswajit, who also distributed edibles to the people present there.
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), Chain of Freedom Foundation and Youth Development Association (YDA) also jointly organised a Covid-19 mass vaccination programme at Awang Khunou Mamang Leikai community hall in Imphal West district on Saturday.
In a release, MSF Drug Affairs' secretary Oinam Premdas Khuman informed that more than 250 beneficiaries were vaccinated for Covid-19 by a team of Imphal West Medical Team RD Wing under the supervision of Dr Lairenmayum Thomson.
MSF also urged the government authorities concerned to issue guidelines for vaccination of the drug user community and people undergoing treatment at rehabilitation centres.
On the other hand, United Youth Club under the supervision of AMUCO carried out mass vaccination programme at New Keithelmanbi community hall on Saturday.
More than 270 beneficiaries were administered the Covid-19 vaccine during the programme conducted under the aegis of Imphal West district administration.
Medical team of PHC Khumbong led by senior MO Dr A Ronibala administered the vaccines and staffers of SDC Konthoujam provided assistance in the mass vaccination programme.
Keithelmanbi Police outpost OC in-charge SI Laishram Premchand provided face masks, sanitisers and packaged drinking water to the people who came to vaccinate.
Volunteers of AMUCO led by its president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang and secretary organisation (in-charge) Koijam Santosh visited the programme to ensure its successful conduct.
Meanwhile, Jiribam Development Organisation (JDO) team on Saturday visited and oversaw various areas of Jiribam district where mass vaccination programmes were conducted, along with organising a house-to-house mass testing with the support of district administration of Jiribam and Health Department at Leingangpokpi village.
During the mass testing, 11 people were found positive for Covid-19.House-to-house testing will continue for 17 households that are still left to be covered in the village on Sunday.
