Another Covid patient dead, toll reaches 3 in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, May 15 2021:
With the death of another Covid patient from Ukhrul on Saturday, the death toll of COVID-19 in the district has reached three in the current month.
Sources said that 56-year-old Ramung Kasar, a resident of Ramva village, passed away at JNIMS, Imphal on Saturday due to Covid-19 complications.
This marks the third Covid-19 related death case registered during the current month in the district.
Later, on the same day, as per request of the deceased's family, the district administration granted permission to transport his mortal remains till his native place for last rites.
Meanwhile, the residence of the deceased patient at Ramva village has been subsequently declared as a containment zone.
The first victim was a 58-year-old female patient from Sirarakhong village, who succumbed to the virus at Shija Hospitals in Imphal, while the second a 64-year-old male resident of Jessami village died at Ukhrul District Hospital (UDH) .
The two previous deaths were reported on May 8 and 13 respectively.
On the other hand, another seven fresh positive cases were detected on Saturday, according to an official source.
With this, the tally of active cases in the district has reached 118 till 5 pm of May 15, 2021 .
Of them, 53 patients are currently kept at the district's transit camp, 17 at Jessami CIC, 16 at UDH Isolation Ward and two at Tongou CIC, while six patients have been referred out of the district, said the source.
The district magistrate has also sealed four residential areas in different parts of the district in connection with the fresh detection of the cases.
