Imphal, May 31 2014 :
United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) today blamed the government for bringing more and more groups into the SoO pact, saying that this will only encourage formation of more new armed groups.
More and more groups would mean disturbing the peaceful atmosphere and the excellent policy of the Govt would bear no fruit in the end, said a statement signed by JM.
Thadou, Info & Publicity Secy of UKLF, adding that the current paper warfare between UKLF and Public on one side and KNLF on the other side is also the creation of the Govt. It said that there is a wide difference between a surrender group and a Suspension of Operation (SoO) group, as a surrenderee is a person who is tired of pursuing his objectives and has decided to give up completely with something else in mind which seems to be the better option for him.
However, the SoO groups came to the peace pact with the hope that their objective and goal should be positively addressed and amicable solution chalked out through dialogue without any sort of back stabbing, it further asserted.
All the Kuki based revolutionary groups, excepting a few newly formed groups, positively responded to the invitation of the Govt and came to be a party to the tripartite SoO peace pact with the centre and state governments in 2008, the statement recounted, while calling their action as right step for peace and harmony in the society.
Saying that surrender groups should not be messed up with others, the outfit appealed to the government that the new groups should be attached with the umbrella organization to which they belonged and no more new camp be established.
Recalling that Chandel district particularly Khengjoi sub-division had been a battle field for a good number of years in the past with enormous suffering of the people, it further said the numerous peace camps shall be turned into hostility camps.
'Now UKLF & KNLF are given free hand to use maximum of freedom of expression leading to fierce paper warfare.
This is the creation of the Govt which is called 'divide and rule policy'", the statement said, and suggested the govt not to pour oil into the fire.
