Imphal, May 31 2014 :
The KCP (MC)-Nongdrenkhomba group on Saturday denied any involvement of the group in the reported missing or death of one of its cadre named Laiphrakpam Gophen of Langthabal Phuramakhong Nambul Mapal, Imphal West.
Gophen had gone missing since September 27 last year and the outfit informed the matter to State Home Minister as well as his family in the first week of October that year itself, M Veda, advisor, KCP (MC)-Nongdrenkhomba told a press meet at the Manipur Press Club here.
It was an unfounded statement of Wahengbam Thoi Alias John of Wabgai Tera Pishak, who is a lance corporal of the outfit, that Gophen was murdered by the KCP (MC)-Nongdrenkhomba group, Veda asserted.
Dismissing the claim by Thoi, Veda said Thoi knows better about the killing of Gophen and countered that Thoi, who is now in jail, is an intoxicant abuser who was involved in several extortion cases.
Veda assured that the outfit will not remain silent if any of its cadres were found involved in the reported killing of Gophen.
Gophen's mother claimed at a press meet here yesterday that his son was murdered by his colleagues on January 4 last and buried his body inside the Mission Compound, Churachandpur the following day.
Notably, KCP (MC)-Nongdrenkhomba is a signatory to suspension of operation (SoO) agreement with State and Central Governments.
