CCpur logs 27 new cases, one death; hand gloves donated

In the past 24 hours, 27 people including 11 females were confirmed as new Covid-19 positive cases in Churachandpur district, while one 62-year-old male died at Churachandpur District Hospital due to Covid-19, taking the cumulative death toll to 62 .
In a release issued on Wednesday, Churachandpur District Information Officer (DIO) informed that a total of 34 people including 16 females have recovered from the viral infection in last 24 hours, while the total number of active cases in the district stands at 331.Out of 126 people who underwent Mapid Antigen Test (MAT) at Churachandpur District Hospital and other testing sites, 26 of them were confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
In addition, one person from Imphal reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 .
However, all the 126 samples have been sent for conducting MT-PCM test, it added.
The release stated that the total number of positive cases in the district so far is 2886 including 988 females, out of which 2493 have recovered.
As per information received from Churachandpur District Hospital, all the 25 beds in the dedicated Covid-19 Centre, Churachanpur District Hospital are occupied at present.
The release further said that the Churachandpur District Hospital currently has 54 D-type oxygen cylinders out of which 29 are full/in stock, 15 currently in use and the remaining sent for refilling.
The hospital also has 36 B-type oxygen cylinders out of which six are currently in use and the remaining sent for refilling.
Meanwhile, upon learning that there has been dearth of hand gloves for people who are engaged in the fight against Covid-19, tribal affairs & hills minister Vungzagin Valte, who is also the minister in-charge of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts, donated hand gloves worth more than Ms 1 lakh on Wednesday.
The safety materials were handed over to Churachandpur District Hospital chief medical officer Dr VC Pau by a team of the minister's workers led by his sons Gousuan and Mangboi.
Vungzagin's election committee chairman and BJP Thanlon Mandal president H Thangkhankap, election agents N Khamsuanthang and PMO Chinkhanmang Ngaihte, and nominee N Li-angoulal were also present on the occasion.
Later, four more packets were also handed over to the CMO Pherzawl Dr Phirthanglien, along with four packets to medical superintendent Kungi and three packets to Bungmual Task Force.
