Imphal, January 23 2009:
THE INDEFINITE bandh along the NH-150 (Tidim road) which commenced from January 19 is still in force said a statement of the JAC against Expansion and Extension of Imphal Airport and would remain for an indefinite period of time till there bring an agreement with the state government.
The bandh is going on successfully the statement claimed stating that only few vehicles defy it and ply taking advantage of the deployment of huge armed security men along the stretch.
"The government armed personnel have been keeping strict vigil and have been trying to thwart the call of the people, Despite such difficulties, farmers, women groups and all affected people from more than six villages have resolutely stood firm in making their position clear their demand through this bandh".
Denouncing the government remaining silent even though the bandh entered four days, the JAC has further decided to ban functioning of all political parties in Naoriya Assembly constituency (project affected area), all government offices and officers related with airport (including airport authority of India).
The ban will be effective till there reach an agreement with the government.
The JAC also threatened of befitting action if any of the concerns within the purview of the ban violated it and it will not take any responsible for untoward incident.
