MGNREGS wage hiked

Imphal, April 16 2011:
Daily wage for MGNREGS has been increased to Rs 126 from the earlier rate of Rs 81.40 all over the country.
Subsequently, the State Government has decided to implement the new rate from the current financial year.
A decision to this effect was adopted following instruction from the relevant Union Ministry to implement the new rate in Manipur too.
This was stated by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Director Y Iboyaima during an inspection tour of different works being undertaken by BDO Kakching at different places of Thoubal district.
Iboyaima asked job MGNREGS card holders not to accept wages less than Rs 126 per day.
He also advised not to hand over their job cards and bank passbooks to anyone else.
If any of the Pradhans and Members are found indulging in foul play, officials of the department should be informed immediately, Iboyaima said.
The team led by Director Iboyaima and comprising of Kakching BDO Angam Koroung Kom, DRDA Thoubal Executive Officer Th Nabakishore and subordinate staff made field assessment of different works taken up by BDO Kakching within four different Gram Panchayats in Thoubal district.
They visited Ejei Hangul GP, Langmeidong GP, Waikhong GP and Sekmaijin GP.
