Imphal-Tamu leg of car rally flagged off

Imphal, March 13 2012:
The Imphal-Moreh-Tamu leg of the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Car Rally was flagged today from Hotel Imphal here by MLA elect T Mangibabu and Chief Secretary DS Poonia.
Around 16 cars with more than 70 persons are participating in the car rally which is supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, and State Governments of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
The first leg of the car rally began from Guwahati.
The second leg was flagged off at Imphal today.
Many more Indian and foreign participants joined the second leg at Imphal today.
The first leg of the rally was flagged off from Guwahati on March 11 .

The main themes of the car rally are; Mapping connectivity in the perspective of North East India and Myanmar, focusing on building bilateral relations, culture, tourism and trade.
The rally will pass through Kalemiyo, Monywa, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Bagan etc.
The team is scheduled to return to Imphal on March 20 .
The rally comes in the backdrop of the focus on the Look East Policy of Delhi.
