Imphal, July 01 2014:
A public rally was taken out around Oinam Bazar today in protest against the murder of Nongthombam Raghuchand alias Richi (31) s/o Ibomcha of Oinam Keithel.
The protesters also urged the authorities concerned to book and award befitting punishment to all the culprits.
Sushindro Oinam, convenor of the JAC Against the Killing of Nongthombam Raghuchand said that a memorandum has been submitted to the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister, Bishnupur DC, Bishnupur SP and the SDO on the murder of Raghuchand.
Sushindro said that the JAC would launch different modes of intense agitation together with civil society organisations of the State if the culprits are not booked by July 2 .

As decided earlier, Raghuchand's body would not be claimed until and unless the murderers are booked.
Noting that some individuals have been already pulled up by police in connection with the murder of Raghuchand, the JAC convenor decried the police department's failure to make any headway in their investigation.
This has evoked a serious question whether the Government has been shielding the culprits.
To put to rest all such suspicions, police department should book the culprits at the earliest.
Raghuchand went to attend a Swasti Pujah ceremony of one his friends' child on June 27 and he was found dead next morning at Leimaram Maning Thingel Dam.
