Imphal, July 01, 2012:
The proscribed UNLF has alleged that the Supreme Court of India supports killing by security forces in fake encounters in Kashmir and Western South East Asia (North East India).
12 years back, on March 25, 2000 security forces shot dead five innocent civilians in a fake encounter at Pathribal village, Kashmir.
But the security forces claimed that they had killed five armed foreign militants who infiltrated into Kashmir.
Despite the claim, Kashmiri people knew that all the victims were innocent civilians who were picked up from their houses a few days earlier.
Subsequently, people launched a strong civil movement against the killing.
Rather than listening to their demand and addressing their grievances, security forces opened indiscriminate fire upon the agitating crowd and killed another 10 innocent civilians.
Later, the case was handed over to the CBI.
After investigation for six long years, the CBI came up with a report in 2006 which clearly stated that all the five victimsJuma Khan (53), Bashir Ahmad Bhat (26), Juma Khan (38), Mohammad Yousuf Malik and Zahoor Ahmad Dalala were all local civilians.
The report further stated that it was a clear case of extra-judicial killing and cold blooded murder.
Identifying the prime accused of the fake encounter, the CBI recommended expeditious trial of Brig Ajay Saxena, Lt Col Brijinder Pratab Singh, Maj Saurabh Sharma, Major Amit Saxena and Subedar Idrees Khan in a criminal court.
Following strong objection from the top brass of Indian security forces, the CBI's report was hushed up for the past 12 years.
It was only last week that the Supreme Court issued a ruling asking the military to try all the accused in its own court (court martial).
This was nothing sort of allowing a murderer to try and judge himself, the UNLF remarked in a press release issued by its senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba.
Taking serious note of such unethical practices of the Indian Supreme Court, the Amnesty International has already remarked that the Indian judiciary system is rather disappointing.
In the same manner, the Indian military wielding the protective shield of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act has butchered many innocent civilians in Western South East Asia.
Even though Irom Sharmila has been campaigning against the notorious AFSPA for more than a decade, the Government of India and its alleged puppet State Government have been acting blind and deaf.
Since the day, Manipur was forcibly merged into India, identity of the indigenous people is being obliterated and threatened continuously.
By making a popular destination for unremitting influx from different parts of India, the Government of India has been scheming to exterminate all the indigenous people of Manipur from the surface of earth, the outfit alleged.
It's already late for the hill and plain people of Manipur to fight the challenge collectively.
To ward off a second devastation of the land, it is paramount to wage a war of liberation collectively.
This is the only way of survival for all the indigenous people, it asserted.
