Following an understanding reached between the State Government and the Senapati District Students' Association, the 10 day NH 39 bandh called by the latter since November 15 has been called off from 6 pm today.
The understanding was arrived during a meeting held today at the quarter of DD Thaisii between the State Government and representatives of SDSA.
The State Government was represented by PWD Minister K Ranjit, PHED Minister TN Haokip, TD Minister DD Thaisii and PDA Chairman Dr Kh Loken.

Necessary manpower, machinery and materials have all been procured, asserted K Ranjit during the meeting.
PHE Minister TN Haokip too assured the student representatives that necessary materials for early completion of water supply reservoirs under NLCPR will be dispatched to the work sites within a day or two, conveyed Hilbert.
Stating that they will maintain a strict vigil all along, the SDSA cautioned that the highway bandh may be re-imposed if proper quality is not maintained in the repairing work of the highway and construction of water reservoirs.
The SDSA spokesperson also appealed to all concerned not to hamper development works and public welfare schemes taken in any part of the State.
The 10 day highway bandh was imposed in protest against the failure of the State Government to repair the dilapidated sections of NH 39 and to complete construction of water supply reservoirs in Senapati district.
