Governor Shivinder Singh Sidhu has greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of 57th anniversary of India's Independence Day to be celebrated tomorrow.
In his message, the Governor said that freedom is a rare asset, which cannot be bartered away or compromised at any cost and under any circumstances.
While celebrating the Independence Day, along with paying of homage and tributes to all those who made supreme sacrifice at the altar of freedom struggles, we should renew our pledge to protect the hard-won freedom and also to keep the National unity and integrity intact, the Governor expressed.
He further said that Manipur, with a plethora of problems, is lagging far behind other States of the country.
The wheels of socio-economic development can move faster only when there is peace and harmony.
