Senapati, May 22 2021:
With COVID-19 cases surging in the district and the state, deputy commissioner of Senapati Mahesh Chaudhari has stressed the need for self-reliant healthcare facilities in the district, saying that "we do not want any patient taken to state capital, Imphal".
During an interaction with media persons in his office chamber, Mahesh informed that there are two COViD Care Centres (CCCs) including one having 45 beds set up near the district hospital and another 200-bedded centre at the ADC New building.
On facilities available, the DC informed that the ICU has been increased from 2 to 4 in the district hospital, two ambulances were added after having them repaired and one oxygen plant being sanctioned for the district would be installed at the district hospital soon.
The district administration is planning to place at least one or two oxygen concentrators in each PHC in the district, he added.
On a query about any plan to open the market, DC Mahesh Chaudhari said that the matter would be decided later to avoid public crowding once it was opened.
He also said that the various restrictions imposed in the containment areas would remain unchanged, except for agricultural activities with strict adherence to SOPs.
With regard to home isolation, Chaudhari said that respective SDOs are the convenors of the community home isolation centres and informed that there are 78 active COVID positive cases in the district and most of them prefer home isolation than to staying at COVID Care Centre.
