ATSUM locked up DC Office Chandel

Chandel, November 19 2013:
Agitating Chiefs and student leaders of All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) under the leadership of Muan Tombing locked the Offices of the Deputy Commissioner Chandel as well as that of DRDA and Autonomous District Council at Monsang Pantha today.
The agitating students along with the Chiefs arrived at Chandel DC Complex at around 2:00 pm today and proceeded directed towards the DC Chamber and locked it.
Deputy Commissioner Th Chittaranjan Singh IAS was not present at that time.
Agitators then moved towards the DRDA Office wherein the ADC Chandel Luckyson Kashung was in meeting with his officials.
Giving explanations on the step being taken up, the agitators asked the ADC and his officials to vacate the room.
After arriving at an understanding, ADC and the officials vacate the room after which agitators locked the office before moving to ADC office at Monsang Pantha.
Later talking to media, one of the agitating student leaders stated that ATSUM under the 2nd phase of Reckoning Of The Others (ROTO) is taking up the present agitation in all the hill districts to register protest against the failure of the government to address and fulfilled its charter of demands including redressal in Education and Health sector, setting up of a separate state commission for ST under article 338-A of the Indian Constitution, effective governance in the hills, ensuring Tribal rights on land and Natural Resources and deletion of Additional English in lieu of MIL for unrecognized tribes in the new scheme of study in class IX .
