Imphal, August 11, 2013:
A Mizo minister is accused of possessing 'illegal drug licenses'.
Opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) has accused Mizoram Health minister Lalrinliana of possessing a 'drug licenses' in the name of his son, who is still an underage.
Interacting media at Mizo Hnam Run, Lalrintluanga Sailo, general secretary MNF said, "Health Minister Lalrinliana Sailo misuses his power such that he gives his minor son four drug Licences (wholesale and general)".
The drug licences are given at Zokhawthar, Champhai district, he added.
The MNF leader further said that when the purpose for giving the drug license comprising Wholesale and General License is verified, it becomes apparently clear that it has connection with what the people of Mizoram, NGOs and Church leaders are concerned with, that is, drug smuggling.
In the meantime, Minister Lalrinliana Sailo reacted, "I am the one who believes that to indulge in such a menace is inviting a deadly consequence upon generations; therefore, I take such an accusation is but a jealousy against the Health department, which is being led by God.
It is an attack coming forth not from one who loves the nation".
